Liam Neeson: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
4. Daniel - Love Actually (2003)
Love Actually is so much more than a romantic comedy: it's a solid ilm with top notch performances all around. But one of the most simultaneously heartbreaking and endearing stories comes from Neeson's character Daniel and his stepson Sam. Sam's mother has recently passed away, leaving Daniel with what he assumes is a heartbroken kid to match this heartbroken stepfather. But it turns out Sam is lovesick for an American girl named Joanna, which allows he and Daniel the chance to overcome the loss of their mother and wife, and fall in love with one another as father and son. Liam Neeson is plumb adorable in this movie. He's the character who delivers the speech that gives you your cathartic cry and later weep tears of joy when you see how sweet this guy is with his kid. He plays a very personal and personable type, and if you saw this film as a young person, Neeson embodied your loving father. If you saw it as an older guy, he was your best friend, if you saw it as an older woman he was your dream guy. He's the best of the best in an all star cast including nothing but A-listers and if all this isn't enough to convince you that Neeson is what makes this film so incredibly special, then you're wrong. What Liam Neeson does here is incredibly difficult, making a regular, real life guy the most interesting point of the film.
