1. Logan Dies

And finally, was any moment ever going to take the #1 spot other than Logan's jaw-dropping demise at the very end of the film? With the serum worn off, Logan has to battle a repaired X-24 in a heavily weakened state, and ends up fatally impaled on a tree, before Laura can finish X-24 off with the adamantium bullet.

Cue one of the most heart-wrenching moments in any superhero movie, as Logan says "So this is what it feels like" (in reference to either/both having a family and dying), and Laura calls him "daddy".

As if that's not enough, one of the young mutants looking on is holding a classic yellow-and-black Wolverine figure, and has to watch the real-life version of his hero die a probably rather painful death.

And in the film's chilling final image, Laura takes the twig cross from Logan's burial site and turns it sideways to read as an X, which is basically the perfect note on which to end the character and Hugh Jackman's legacy in the role.

Plus, there aren't any extra credits scenes to ruin the mood, just Johnny Cash's "When the Man Comes Around" playing out as you wipe tears from your face and maintain your composure before returning to the outside world. What a scene, and what a trip this movie was. Bravo.
