Logan: 22 WTF Moments In Wolverine's Final Stand

9. The Weird Farmland Sub-Plot

Logan Eriq La Salle 2

It's hard not to feel like Logan is trying to preach against the dangers of energy drinks and the corporate strangle-hold corn syrup corporations have over the world. It's almost like a PSA dropped into the narrative with only the flimsy explanation that it was used as the primary means to infect the mutants with Transigen's virus.

When you think about the film's link to Shane, though, it makes more sense, as the classic Western also has a farming subplot that sees the innocent farming community terrorised by violent, uncompromising land-owners. In that respect, the whole Munsons sub-plot feels like a love letter to Shane.

But it's still very distracting all the same, particularly when it is killed off so abruptly when X-24 appears.
