Logan: 31 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
11. The X-Men Comics
As revealed rather unnecessarily in the trailers, the X-Men had grown to such popularity in Logan's "real" world history that comic books came out starring them.
Logan sees a couple and dismissed them as exaggerations that took major liberties. It's a very smart way to explain comic books rather than ignoring they exist entirely as most comic book movies do.
The comics in question are Uncanny X-Men #117 and #132 with specially commissioned cover art by Dan Panosian. The stories inside are also different but the title numbers are relevant.
Uncanny X-Men #117 talks heavily about how Xavier first decided to dedicate his life to human/mutant relations, which is clearly particularly relevant. And then issue #132 has an iconic fight between Logan and Donald Pierce, so it's clearly no accidental.
And neither is the Dark Phoenix link to that issue, given that that's apparently coming next from Fox.
