London Film Festival 2015: The 10 Films You Need To See

1. Son Of Saul

The Pitch: In the dying days of World War II, we follow the life and trauma of Saul, a Sonderkommando - Jews who aided the Nazis in their exterminations under fear of death - who becomes obsessed with a dead boy, and in the midst of mass death tries to give him a proper burial. Why You Should Be Excited: Holocaust movies all too often fall back on type, but László Nemes isn't afraid to be adventurous. The entire film is shot in numerous extended takes that hold close to Saul, making heavy use of close focus to accentuate the personal journey amongst the international tragedy and is a complete, unflinching piece. Not a feel-good film. The Buzz: Son Of Saul was the big surprise of Cannes, scooping the Grand Prix prize and is playing in the Official Competition here in London. And, in all honesty, there's going to have to be something incredible in that collection of films if it's not going to walk away with the big prize. When's It Released? 18th December (US), TBA (UK) What are you looking forward to at the London Film Festival 2015? Let us know your picks down in the comments.
