Lord Of The Rings: Casting Peter Jackson's Epic Fantasy Trilogy

Gandalf The Grey: Patrick Stewart

This is an actor who truly needs no introduction - he's Captain freaking Picard for Pete's sake! Furthermore, Stewart has recently been cast as Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming X-Men movie adaption, and the links between the two patriarchal characters are very obvious to see. As the wise old Wizard and mentor to the other characters in the story, Gandalf is much the leader of the Fellowship Of The Ring - the Captain if you will. I don't mean to sound too pushy here but come on, everybody knows that Patrick Stewart deserves this roll.

Gollum: Jim Henson Studios

Movies over the last few years have shown that using a computer-graphics character alongside human ones is just about impossible to achieve (exemplified by Jackson's own 'The Frighteners'). Gollum, a creature unlike anything that could possibly exist in our world, will obviously have to be a puppet. There's simply no effective alternative. Who would you cast in the upcoming Lord Of The Rings adaptation? Share your own picks below.
