Lord Of The Rings & Hobbit: 12 BIGGEST Mistakes We Have To Live With
9. Making The Hobbit Into Three Films
As it should go without saying, The Hobbit should've been two films at the very most.
Making a massive trilogy out of a 300-page children's book was not only ludicrous, but detrimental to the films since the lean source material was stretched so thin as a result.
In fairness, the films were going to be a duology at first, but then the second film was getting too long so it was cut in two - that's why Desolation of Smaug has that lame cliff-hanger which is resolved so quickly in Five Armies.
With two films, the pacing and writing would no doubt have been so much stronger. Sadly, it wasn't to be.
