Luke Evans To Play Villain in 'Fast Six'?

Will take the role initially offered to Jason Statham in Justin Lin's soon to be filming sequel.

Luke Evans is one of those actors who seems to be everywhere lately. With major roles in 'Immortals', 'The Raven', 'The Three Musketeers' and soon to be playing Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' movies, it seems like that Evans is an actor very much in demand. Twitch report that Evans has been offered the role of the main villain in Justin Lin's soon to be filming sequel 'Fast Six'. The role was previously one that was earmarked for one certain Jason Statham, but it seems that after Statham passed on the offer, the producers sought out Evans' services instead. It seems that Hollywood still love themselves a good old fashioned British villain now and then. Some things will never change it seems. It was rumored earlier this week that Rihanna was in early discussions to play a villainous role in the film as producers were, apparently, quite impressed with her work in 'Battleship'. Although that rumor did surface from The Daily Mail so it's probably best to take that rumor with a pinch of salt. A very large pinch of salt. With the producers looking for a British thesp to take the role of the villain for the next installment, seems to further indicate that the series will decidedly take a more European turn for its next outing- maybe even the UK. The sixth film in the gear-headed franchise is set to begin filming this May, with regular series screenwriter Chris Morgan already furiously at work scribbling down the seventh installment. If Evans signs he will be joining returning stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster and Gina Carano as well as Michelle Rodriguez, whose Letty who wasn't as dead as we would've been led to believe following on from the revelation in the post credits scene at the end of 'Fast Five' and another series alumni. 'Fast Six' or 'The Fast and the Furious Six' or 'Six Fast' or whatever they decide to call is set for release next summer.
