Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Movie Is Floating Our Way

An article in yesterday's The Hollywood Reporter claim that film producers Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers of IAM Entertainment have developed a number of pitches for what a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade movie would look look like, in order to get a film off the ground and secure a lucrative partnership with the New York store. Smart move - the parade is watched by millions of viewers every year and is part of American pop-culture and we can imagine a movie opening around that time that would convince the whole family to make the trip out to see it. The pitch that seems to have the most buzz, and indeed the only one revealed to us, is a family adventure movie where the advertising and often cutesy floats that fly amongst the skyscrapers would come to life. And in 3D, you can guarantee it. You can see the concept art above, created by Joe Venti, which seems to have swung things their way. Macy's were delighted with the pitching, claiming, "We are always searching for the next Miracle on 34th Street€ and now the producers own the rights to follow through on their ideas and are now meeting with writers & directors. Producer Scott Glassgold said;
We€™re aiming to make a four-quadrant, family-friendly film somewhere in that Night At The Museum, Elf sweet spot.
Will the eventual movie involve the floats coming to life? I'd imagine so. Is it just the state of the industry today that I don't think this is even the worst idea for a movie I've heard all week?
