8. Tom Hardy As Mad Max

Unfortunately/thankfully (depending on your point of view) there will be no €œsugar tits€ing or barely-concealed anti-Semitism in the new Mad Max, with original Aussie actor Mel Gibson a little too old to reprise a role that requires such strenuous physical activity. Then there's the whole matter of calling a police officer €œsugar tits€ whilst being arrested for drunk driving and the barely-concealed anti-Semitism that hasn't really helped his case as a viable lead for a big blockbuster Hollywood film. Ably filling the role that Gibson originated all the way back in George Miller's 1979 film is Tom Hardy, an actor who's building up a particularly interesting name for himself. After breaking onto the scene with Black Hawk Down and then farting around for a while with drug addiction and MySpace selfies, Hardy has since become one of the best actors around today, taking on serious fare like Bronson alongside genre turns in The Dark Knight Rises as the unintelligable Bane. Interestingly, this is the second Fury Road trailer in a row where the eponymous hero hasn't actually talked. Some of the bits of narration might be up for debate, but Tom Hardy definitely doesn't open his mouth on screen during this new teaser, suggesting that the character might not be the lead the series history and the name on the marquee suggests...
