Magic Mike Xxl Trailer The first half of this teaser for Magic Mike XXL seems to be paying homage to Flashdance and Footloose all at once. It's also very impressive, in so much as I have no idea how Channing Tatum is making his body move like that. Or, indeed, look like that. Maybe he's been painted over with some kind of Weta Digital creation. It's only later in the trailer that we get lots of other half-naked men, each of whom has their own legion of impatient fans who probably aren't even reading this sentence and clicked play ages ago. Story of my life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98jJZXC4A Though Steven Soderbergh was only a camera operator this time around, and the new director is his sometime first AD Gregory Jacobs, there was definitely still a lot of the original Magic Mike feeling in that trailer, particularly in that last, presumably improvised bit. It's not quite 21 Jump Street but maybe Tatum's newly honed comedy chops can add some appeal for people who don't just want to see him get naked. I'm sure this trailer has been released now so it can play to ChanTat's adoring hordes alongside Jupiter Ascending. (They do call him ChanTat, right?) I'm even more sure it's also going to play with Fifty Shades of Grey, and very possibly steal the show. Magic Mike XXL is set for release in the UK on July 11th, in the US one week earlier on July 4th.
