Major, Major, Major, QUANTUM OF SOLACE spoilers in Sunday's DAILY MAIL!

It's unfortunate that with only three weeks until the release of QUANTUM OF SOLACE that the end fate of one major character from the film has been revealed in a National British Newspaper. The images came in yesterday's Daily Mail as part of their "Life" magazine supplement and I'm absolutely shocked that the producers at Columbia pictures would be so forthright in releasing such a major spoiler for their upcoming film. Though I can see why it would drum up interest.

WITH ONLY 3 WEEKS AND CHANGE UNTIL QUANTUM OF SOLACE OPENS IN THE U.K, CAN YOU RESIST FINDING OUT WHICH MEMORABLE BOND MOMENT, QUANTUM OF SOLACE HAS LIFTED? Speaking to The Mirror in January, Bond girl Gemma Arteton said that her character €˜...sort of comes to a sticky end.€™ She was 100% right... Oil replacing gold for a homage to one of the most memorable deaths of any Bond girl in history, lifted directly from 1964's GOLDFINGER and actress Shirley Eaton's end fate. Arteton said...
€˜I couldn€™t move. I couldn€™t see, I couldn€™t breathe or hear because it went in my ears. It was unpleasant, but it€™s something I€™ll always remember and it will be an iconic part of the film.€™
One interesting point that this homage brings up is that it's the first direct reference to a moment from the past Bond franchise. CASINO ROYALE, as far as I was aware, did not contain a direct moment lifted from any of the previous films and some fans have speculated as to whether the Bond producers might be tempted, when they run out of ideas and film titles, to greenlight a remake of an already adapted Ian Fleming novel. For example, you would think that this memorable moment would not be part of a GOLDFINGER remake if one were to ever take place because they have already used it. Will future Bond films continue to have this homage element brandishing any possible remake impossible or is this just a one-off and does not indicate anything about the future of the franchise? Meanwhile, Yahoo Movies have 30 very un-spoilerish images from the film, some new. QUANTUM OF SOLACE, the 22nd James Bond film opens October 31st (U.K.) and November 14th (U.S.) starring Daniel Craig, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Olga Kurlyenko, Jeffrey Wright, Rachel McDowell, Stana Katic, Giancarlo Giannini and Jesper Christensen. Marc Forster (STRANGER THAN FICTION, FINDING NEVERLAND) directs his first action movie. via - commander bond
