Man of Steel: 10 Mistakes From Superman Returns Reboot Must Avoid

3. Visual Effects

This might be an unfair criticism of a movie that is now more than six years old, but leaning so heavily on computer generated visual effects for creating action sequences shows up badly in repeated watches. There are moments that look so jarringly unrealistic that they pull you straight out of the emotional place that the film was trying to suck you into. The technology is obviously much better now, but there is a lot to gain by using practical special effects as much as possible, and by blending it with CG. Not only would you be making a film that will likely look good for much longer, but there's an unmatched thrill for an audience in watching something that actually happened as it's being shown on the screen. The challenge is to find the opportunities for practical effects in a Superman movie.
