Man Of Steel 2: 5 Most Likely Villains

man-of-steel-600x300Warning: This article does contain spoilers and subpar analysis Well it seems as if most people either absolutely loved Man of Steel or absolutely hated it. That's ok, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally I enjoyed it for what it was, the foundation of better things to come. Comparing it to The Dark Knight is utterly ridiculous. People can be upset about it all they want but they need to realize that they're completely different characters with completely different motives. Superman isn't as demented and cryptic of a character as Batman is, it just wouldn't have worked for the entire movie. Personally I don't think there will ever be another superhero movie as dark and grounded as The Dark Knight, and that's OK. In Man of Steel, it almost felt like they wanted to ground Superman during the first half of the movie just to prove a point and then show how "super" he could be in the back half, and it worked. DC is trying to build something, something special that we can enjoy for years to come. Understanding that is the first step in being able to appreciate the movie for what it was. It also got me thinking.. Now for me, the best part of the movie was Michael Shannon's potrayal of General Zod. He was cruel, relentless, and merciless, yet you almost felt for the guy. When it comes down to it, he just wanted to help his people and save Krypton. He was just doing what he felt was right but in the end, it didn't matter. Superman chose the lesser of two evils and snapped Zod's neck. (Which I still can't believe. Since when does Superman kill?) Anyways, the point I'm attempting to make is every super hero needs a super villain. In some instances, the villain is the one who makes the hero, and can be the difference between a good and great movie. Man of Steel laid some ground work for what could be in the future with the Lex Corp sightings, lack of kryptonite, the phantom zone, and early reveal of his identity to Lois Lane. So what's to come, where do you go from here? I don't know, but I love to imagine, and I have an idea of who he will be facing in the future based on what we've already seen. The 5 most likely Man of Steel villains of the future..
