Man Of Steel 2: 8 Comic Book Storylines That Must Be Adapted

Something that just about everyone is saying they want from Man of Steel 2 is for it to evoke the feel of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies (at least the first two). Obviously not to the overly reverential extent of Superman Returns, but enough to hark back to those original Supes films that have never been topped. What a neat idea it would be, then, for Man of Steel 2 to gently mirror the plot of Superman II. So how about an adaptation of Up, Up And Away!?

In this storyline, due to the fallout of the events of Infinite Crisis, Superman is rendered powerless and must adjust to life as regular joe Clark Kent. But his arch-enemy Lex Luthor still gets up to his old tricks - in this case, rebuilding a Kryptonian warship that threatens to destroy Metropolis. Thankfully, Supes gets his powers back just in time for a big climactic battle with Lex on a deserted island. Clearly, Up, Up And Away! is a hugely cinematic story in its own right, but the icing on the cake is the plot's homage to Clark's power loss in Superman II.

Adapting this for MoS2 would really bring Cavill's Superman down to earth and make him much more relatable, which is another item on the long checklist of things the sequel needs to do. Plus, there would be an increased role for the Clark Kent persona, the Daily Planet crew (could we get a proper Jimmy Olsen, please?) and, most importantly, more time with Lois and Clark.
