3. "What Are You Going To Do When You're Not Saving The World?"
The obvious question that must exist in every Superman origin story. Now in the build up to the release of the film there was one question on my mind and I'm sure it was on the minds of many others out there: "Great. We've seen what Superman looks like, but what about Clark Kent?" It's true, we were never given a definitive image of what Clark Kent with the glasses would look like in the Man of Steel Universe and once the movie got into full-swing action, I'm pretty sure no one really cared. However, when Diane Lane's Martha Kent said that one magical line, it became clear Snyder had planned the fan service to bring us some insight into how Clark Kent the farmboy becomes Clark Kent the secret identity. The way this sequence played out was that after Metropolis was levelled but the world ultimately saved, Ma Kent asks the obvious question: "What are you going to do when you're not saving the world?" And that's when Hans Zimmer's magical score swells and Clark delivers his monologue accompanied by extreme closeups of him obviously walking to the Daily Planet with his tie flapping and you just
know what the reveal is going to be. But then that doesn't spoil the magic, and in that final shot of the film, they reveal the mask that is Clark Kent in one of the most satisfying moments of the entire film.
