1. The End
At the end of the devastating final showdown between Kal-El and Zod, something happens that shook me like nothing else ever has: Superman to me has always been a man who will never do something like this unless there was no possible way out of it. At the end of the final battle, Zod is millimeters away from vapourising a family with his heat vision, and just before theyre blown away, Kal-El snaps his neck. Thats right,
Superman kills Zod. At his moment we're immediately drawn back to a line delivered by Nolan's Alfred in The Dark Knight Rises: ultimately Superman made the choice that no one else could make. The right choice. What would happen if Zod were left alive? Death, destruction and more death. Superman is immediately devastated by what hes done, which was what calmed me down, because it shows that hes still human and he really didnt have a choice because if he hadnt killed Zod, the family and indeed the rest of the world, would have died. So while it may have outraged fans not used to seeing Superman kill, it fits the mythos of this version of the character, and it was a stunning moment. Did you enjoy man Of Steel?
