Man Of Steel: 7 Reasons The ''S'' Stands For Sucks

4. Krypton

The Krypton in Man Of Steel is very different from the one I€™ve imagined growing up and not for the better. The outfits looked awesome but that is the only positive about it.

Krypton is on the verge of destruction and only Russell Crowe can see the impending disaster. The core has been over mined and that basically means the whole planet is screwed. They might have enough time to evacuate the planet but no one is going to try. One council elder ever mocks Russell Crowe by asking €˜€™what did you expect us to do? Evacuate the entire planet??€™€™ Well yes actually, Kryptonites have the ability to build outposts all over galaxy, then why is it such a big deal to suddenly try to save as many people on Krypton by evacuating them? Russell Crowe agrees with the council elders that €˜€™everyone here is already dead,€™€™ but he wants the codex to be sent with his son to safety.

The codex is the genetic imprint of everyone on Krypton and a way of guaranteeing the survival of their species. Considering the crisis that is on the horizon, the council refuse and Crowe takes it upon himself to steel it and infuse it with his newborn son.

By this point, Krypton was looking like a place full of morons. It might have something to do with that each of them has been genetically modified to fit a particular role in society, but apparently all the genetic modifying doesn€™t stop the idiot gene.

Also this part of the story has been told so many times (and so much better) that everyone is waiting for the planet to explode and get the film rolling. Did anyone really care enough to sit through an extended pre origin-origin story of Superman and his birth?

Crappy €˜€™Machines from the Matrix€™€™ inspired technology, flying birds from Avatar and a bizarre reproduction policy that makes very little sense; this more detailed look at Krypton is something we all could have done with out.
