Man Of Steel: How To Easily Fix Snyder's 10 Biggest Mistakes

2. The Origin Retread

originThe Problem There is far too much time spent in Smallville flashbacks and with the opening in Krypton, and it takes away from potential characterization and developing the Planet staff and Clark€™s role in Metropolis. The origin has been told and retold many times in comics, in movies, in TV shows both animated and live-action, including a TV show that spent ten seasons just on the origin. I€™d be surprised if there€™s a person who doesn€™t know Superman€™s origin story by this point. Everyone knows it, we don€™t need to see it again, give us something different. The Fix Strip out the Krypton scenes and the Smallville scenes. Give us more character development and less time on hitting on the story beats that everybody already knows. Clark is sent to Earth, Krypton is destroyed, Clark grows up in Smallville and develops and struggles with his powers, we get it! I€™m much more interested in seeing how Snyder, Goyer and Cavill would have modernized the Clark Kent identity. This goes for all future superhero reboots, take a note from The Incredible Hulk: you should not spend more than five minutes on the origin. It€™s become so lazy to just redo the origin story over again and spend most of the movie on that.
