2. Dylan Roberts - Now You See Me (2013)
Lionsgate2013s Now You See Me very nearly delivered so much. It not only had a star-studded cast with such talents as Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and of course Mark Ruffalo but it had a (mostly) engaging storyline. Playing Dylan Roberts, the FBI agent tasked with bringing The Four Horsemen to justice, Ruffalo is at the core of this film which promised so much but ultimately delivered very little. For 80% of the film Ruffalo does a brilliant job. He not only brings that iconic Ruffalized ten o clock shadow which weve become accustomed to but his performance as the woefully incompetent yet highly likeable FBI agent brings the movie to life. However, in the big twist it is revealed that Ruffalos Dylan is actually the mastermind behind the robberies. Rather implausibly, Dylan has spent years in the FBI climbing up the ranks for this one act of revenge inspired by the tragic death of his magician father. Not only is this twist at the end of an otherwise decent film ridiculously implausible but it leaves so many questions unanswered that we wished we had never bothered watching in the first place. Of course this is the fault of the writers, not Ruffalo, but it is hard not to associate this dire ending with the character at the centre of it.
