3. Chris 'Izzy' Cole - Rock Star
If his stints in New Kids on the Block and Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch didn't clue him in, it seems that he and music don't really fit all that well together; but Rock Star is perhaps the most compelling argument as to why. If you can get past the ridiculous premise (that an 80s metal band fires their lead singer, and recruit's Wahlberg's fanboy character, who was in his own tribute band, to fill the role), it's still a woeful film that dispassionately rattles through the genre clichés but without any charm or remote sense of self-awareness. Wahlberg's performances suggests that he
wants us to have fun without actually doing anything to provoke such a response; it's an unfortunate mess that came after a couple of strong roles, and threatened to derail his career. Thankfully he survived it, nipple piercing and all, but it's surely an effort he'd rather forget. I certainly would.
