Marvel: 12 MCU Theories That Make Appalling Sense
1. EVERYONE Is Going To Die
The Theory
In the months running up to Infinity War's release, most fans will speculate about who will be killed off in Infinity War. Sadly, the real answer is that everyone will. Or at least 90% of them will.
The Evidence
You could just assume that Marvel will pull the trigger on everyone in order to save themselves some money. Contracts are expensive after all, and the original Avengers must all be on a pretty penny.
But really, there's a more compelling reason for killing everyone: it's the right story to tell. In the comics, Thanos uses the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of existence as a power display - it is precisely what gives the Gauntlet its fearsome billing. Without a catastrophis genocidal event, the cinematic Gauntlet and the entire build up to Thanos uniting the Stones will mean nothing. It will be a disappointing anti-climax to the story we've been led to believe has been paramount all along.
And then you have to consider what Marvel say comes next. Kevin Feige has repeatedly said Avengers 4 is a whole new direction for the MCU, and that Phase 4 won't be anything like the same as the three previously. We're being led to believe this is the end, and for those sentiments to ring true, it has to be.
But that doesn't mean everyone has to die permanently. In the comics, Thanos' actions are reversed (by Nebula), and there's a good chance Marvel could follow that thread to not only get around killing everyone, but also keeping some characters dead, or replacing the actors.
We could see a possible future where the Reality Stone is used to "restore" reality, or the Soul Stone is used to "revive" dead characters, but for things not to work completely. That would explain why Tony Stark no longer looked like Robert Downey Jr, or why some of the older Avengers are left out in the void (for later revival). And honestly, it's the best way to do it.
