Marvel Civil War - Predicting Who Sides With Who

3. Crossbones - Team Iron Man

In the comics version of Civil War, Iron Man becomes desperate and resorts to enlisting villains to help bring in the men and women he called his friends. This is one of the major points in the story that results in a huge turn of the tide which we'll discuss in a moment. Brock Rumlow was a member of S.H.I.E.L.D during the events of The Winter Soldier, but his failed attempts to apprehend Steve Rogers as ordered by the corrupt sleeper agents within the organization left him badly disfigured and on the brink of death. Thanks to the casting news, we know that Frank Grillo will return to the role in Civil War. Now known as Crossbones, Rumlow is the man who assassinates Cap on the courthouse steps at the conclusion of the story. Armed with that knowledge, all signs point to something similar taking place here. We're not suggesting that Tony Stark has Crossbones kill his friend. In fact, MCU Iron Man is far too popular of a character to even attempt going down that road. However, we could envision a scenario in which General Ross turns to Crossbones to end the war in a way that Iron Man doesn't have the stomach for.
