Marvel Studios Delay Guardians of the Galaxy To August 1st, 2014?
Now coming to theatres on August 1st, 2014... six months later than originally planned.
Just what are Marvel Studios up to? For reasons unknown, the now rather mischievous studio have shifted their still mysterious May 14th, 20124 movie back by a few months to August 1st, 2014. That's taking the movie away from the lucrative, early summer blockbuster dates to late summer which can sometimes get overshadowed by the gigantic audience bait that comes before it. So why have Marvel made the change? We have to imagine it is because whatever movie they were working on, they need a bit more time in pre-production to get it right and the talent brought together. Every website (including us who worked it out a little quicker than most) seem to believe the mysterious movie will be a Guardians of the Galaxy film which will broaden the scope of The Avengers universe post-The Avengers and it does seem to make sense, but Marvel have yet to confirm this. So Marvel's next films are Iron Man 3 next May which will be followed by a Thor sequel in November and then Captain America 2 on April 4th, 2014 before this mysterious movie bows on August 1st, 2014. That's actually quite a smart idea to spread out the releases of their movies by six months each time, meaning their films are constantly being churned out and progressing the universe with regular intervals rather than the 10-12 months gaps we live through right now. It also means the mysterious Marvel release gets out of the way of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2nd), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (May 16th) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (May 30th) which is a trio of films they are wise to move away from, especially if the film does turn out to be The Guardians of the Galaxy, which is probably the hardest release they will have had to market so far.
