Dylan O'Brien Seriously Injured On Set Of Maze Runner 3

Final installment of the trilogy looks likely to be postponed.

Filming of the third Maze Runner movie has been halted, and may even be postponed, after Dylan O€™Brien suffered serious injuries on set. As is traditional with any young-adult book conversion, the Maze Runner series has been building to its exciting conclusion for a number of films now. However, unlike it's more famous literary counterparts (Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight etc), producers decided to wrap things up in one film instead of breaking the climax up. A climax that may now have to be pushed back after O€™Brien was hospitalised on the set of The Death Cure. The star, who first climbed to fame through the cult show Teen Wolf, was reportedly hit by a car while filming a stunt for the sci-fi movie. Although no further details have been released yet, it seems to be a serious accident that raises doubts as to whether the film will make it's scheduled February 2017 release date. The Maze Runner is a typical trope of YA, as it follows a 16 year-old boy (played by 24-year old O'Brien, naturally) who wakes in a dystopian society with no memory of his identity. Based on the book series by James Dasher, all three films have been directed by Wes Ball, who on Saturday released a hand written statement via Twitter claiming "Dylan is going to be just fine". Ball also claimed that he was "overwhelmed with feelings of sadness and guilt" over the injuries to his lead and expresses his sorry and sympathy to friends and family of the actor. Dylan O'Brien won three MTV Movie Awards last year for his work on the Maze Runner. Breakthrough Performance, Best Hero and Best Fight; all of which were voted for by viewers. His chances of a full recovery look good, but this incident will have seriously dented his chances on adding any awards for stunt work to his collection.
