McG & Breck Eisner Pitch OUIJA Board Film To Universal

Ouija, Universal & Platinum Dunes' flimsy sounding big budget adventure movie based on the popular party game, continues to appropriately attract the attention of mid-level filmmakers. Sylvain White (The Losers), Pierre Morel (Taken), Scott Stewart (Legion) & John Moore (Max Payne) all pitched their ideas recently of how they would make the film and were all shot down by producer Michael Bay and his cronies. Now two further mediocre talents have given it a shot - Breck Eisner (The Crazies, Sahara) pitched his take a week ago, as did 'diet-Bay' McG (Terminator Salvation, Charlie's Angels) on Friday, according to THR. Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost, TRON: Legacy) have written the script, said to be similar in tone to the supernatural adventure franchises Indiana Jones and The Mummy. Though really, why they can't just say it's Jumanji for the 21st century, I don't know. But that's exactly what this is, with a touch of spiritual horror. Oujia has a Nov. 22nd, 2012 date in place, so a director will have to be found early in the New Year to keep schedules happy. Eisner is a touch or two above McG and if I was putting multiple of millions of dollars into a film like this, I would feel more comfortable with him behind the helm. And to think McG, if you hadn't screwed up Terminator Salvation, you would have been working on a sequel by now. Hollywood sure is a slippery snakes & ladders game.
