MCU: 10 Behind The Scenes Feuds Marvel Studios Doesn't Want You To Know
4. Ed Norton (And Louis Leterrier) Vs. Marvel Studios
The Incredible Hulk was released shortly after Iron Man, but it didn't receive anywhere near as positive a response as the movie that came before it. It was a mostly underwhelming affair and has become something of a black sheep in the Marvel Studios family in recent years, rarely referenced and frequently ignored in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A large part of that is the utter sh*tstorm the release of the movie created back in 2008. Ed Norton had a reputation for being difficult, and after taking American History X away from Tony Kaye, the actor tried to do the same with Louis Leterrier's vision for The Incredible Hulk.
Despite initially allowing Norton to arrive on set and rewrite what they were working on that day, the actor became incensed when his contributions didn't really shine through when the movie was being edited. As a result, he refused to promote the finished cut, and departed the role soon after (which was an absolute PR nightmare at the time).
Leterrier was somewhat supportive of Norton's plans, but seemed to be very much stuck in the middle, and he's since spoken out about the challenges of working with Marvel Studios.
