MCU: 10 Fascinating Facts Behind Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
1. The Real Reason James Gunn Couldn't Use The Sneepers Is Hilarious
As mentioned in a previous entry, when it came to crafting Guardians of the Galaxy 2, James Gunn wanted to cram in as much wider lore as possible. This included alien races that were prominent in the comics showing up in the background of scenes, as the director wanted the environments to feel as authentic to comic readers as possible.
One race which the director was unable to use was the Sneepers, or at least their name anyway. Though the visual design of the race was borrowed in both Guardians 1 and 2, the director had big plans for them in the sequel - until Marvel's legal team informed him the name wouldn't fly. That's because it turned out that "sneeper" is actually an Icelandic word for "clitoris", something which naturally only made Gunn want to use it more, but made Marvel shaky.
In the end he wasn't able to include it, so instead he ingeniously snuck it into the Guardians' Inferno music video, with the name of the fictional band there being "The Sneepers". So, yep, that's Guardians' Inferno as performed by the band Clitoris (ft. David Hasselhoff). Don't try to tell me that's not amazing.
