MCU: 10 Greatest Black Panther Moments
1. T'Challa Spares Killmonger's Life - Black Panther
When Prince T'Challa first appeared in Captain America: Civil War, he was a headstrong young man, naïve to the wisdom needed to be a strong leader, and blinded by the need for revenge. After the death of his father, he was very reminiscent of Thor from years before, rushing into war without even thinking about the consequences.
By the conclusion of Black Panther however, T'Challa had evolved into a strong leader, and a true King. The character had spent the entire movie having to fight for the throne that was rightfully his, even losing it at one stage thanks to Erik Killmonger, who murdered countless people in order to challenge and kill him.
Yet, as he did with Zemo, T'Challa took the high road after he defeated Killmonger in combat, hoping to save the life of his cousin that had been wronged by his father.
Though he may not have agreed with N'Jadaka's actions, he agreed with the sentiment behind them, making a reality of his rival's wish to open the doors of Wakanda to his oppressed brothers across the globe. T'Challa even took his murderous rival to look over the rolling hills of Wakanda as part of his final wish, before Killmonger made the choice to face death instead of bondage.
This was a character defining moment for T'Challa, and one of the most poignant and important in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
