MCU: 12 Changes From The Comics That Were Completely Justified
8. Not Making Black Widow A Super Soldier
When we first meet Natasha Romanoff in the MCU, she seems to be a perfect instrument of espionage, which is reinforced wonderfully by her role in The Avengers. She might hint at backstory vaguely but it isn't until Avengers: Age Of Ultron that her origin was really shown.
And that flash of origin left out the fact that she was a super soldier just like Captain America and Bucky thanks to scientific tinkering to make her biotechnologically and psycho-technologically enhanced as she was in the comics. It would have been too much to have her play another super-soldier in the MCU, and it was far more compelling to believe that the Avengers actually have more vulnerable, relatable members.
Soon we'll get to see more of Widow's story, which is definitely a good move for the MCU to be making and while it would be interesting to see her and Bucky sharing some history, having her retain her humanity is a key story element.
