MCU: 12 Changes From The Comics That Were Completely Justified
6. No Hulk/Alien Romance - Thor: Ragnarok
When it was announced that Hulk was going to be involved in Thor: Ragnarok and that Taika Waititi would be adapting elements of the iconic Planet Hulk storyline, fans had reason to be excited. Though it was a little left-field for the MCU, seeing that story celebrated would be great.
It quickly became clear that it wouldn't be anything like a pure adaptation (which disappointed some), and when the film came out there was nothing of Hulk's arc as it is in the comics. He isn't married, he doesn't impregnate that wife and while he's adored, he's not the saviour of Sakaar.
The changes to Hulk's character were actually a great evolution, even if we missed out on a pure adaptation of Planet Hulk. Sure that story was great, but introducing a wife for Hulk when he's not afforded his own movie would have been too much, and having her die would have compromised the tone of Waititi's comedy way too much.
