5. Niki Caro Is The Favourite To Direct Captain Marvel

Marvel are currently meeting with potential directors for Captain Marvel. The favourite at the minute is Niki Caro. The movie will feature lots of female characters, with the plan to cast popular and up-and-coming actresses.

Meetings are almost certainly already happening, that goes without saying. Picking Niki Caro's name out of the air is a little more surprising: she has previously made the excellent Whale Rider, the slightly less good North Country and McFarland, USA and the just plain bad The Vintner's Luck. Her profile - and the fact that she hasn't made LOTS of films - would seemingly fit Marvel's usual approach to casting too.
And Marvel want to cast popular and up-and-coming actors? You mean they don't want to cast derided ones and has-beens? What a major revelation...
