MCU: 14 Things You Learn Rewatching The Avengers
12. If They Wanted TO Make Black Widow A Skrull, They've Set It Up
When Black Widow appears for the first time, we get a real look at how great she is as an agent, but the deception she pulls on the Russians offers another story element that could be used later. There's a theory that suggests that she could be a Skrull and while it's pie in the sky at the minute, the fact that the Avengers shows her not once but TWICE convincingly disguising her true motives (she does it again with Loki, of course) is intriguing.
Could this have been early seeding? Even if it wasn't, it would be the perfect details to appropriate for a Secret Invasion revealtion.
Also, Scarlett Johnasson is wonderful in this movie: the tears in her eyes when Banner pretends to Hulk out is a brilliant touch and her interaction with Loki is stunning. Still, the performance isn't quite enough to hide the fact that in her meeting with Hulk she shows a picture of the Tesseract on her mobile, which is the weirdest debriefing ever, particularly as it suggests someone took the picture just for a lark.
