After the release of The Avengers and the post-credits reveal of Thanos, speculation began to run rampant on who would end up playing the iconic supervillain in future movies.

Thanos creator Jim Starlin sparked rumours that Arnold Schwarzenegger was in consideration for the part after suggesting he'd be his own personal pick. Arnie never commented publicly on the scuttlebutt, but that didn't stop the fans running with Starlin's sneaky tease.

Would It Have Worked?: Not a chance. Right out of the gate it would have resulted in a significant backlash, if only because of Arnie's infamous work as Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin, and his face and voice being too distinctive for a character of Thanos' stature.

Josh Brolin did an astounding job as the character in Infinity War, while it would've been virtually impossible to take the character seriously as performed by Arnold.
