MCU: 5 Best & 5 Worst Villains So Far
5 Best MCU Villains
5. Vulture/Adrian Toomes
Certain cinemagoers were unsure when they saw Spider-Man: Homecoming would be swinging its way onto screens last year. Sure, the MCU diehards would be first in line with their popcorn and ludicrously-priced drinks to see Tom Holland’s first solo movie in the role. But, having sat through three Tobey Maguire films and two starring Andrew Garfield, some were understandably hesitant whether the movie would be able to bring something new to the table.
But it does and Toomes, played by Michael Keaton, is symbolic of the MCU’s Spidey. Before this we had seen the Green Goblin (x3), Electro, Venom, Sandman and the Lizard all come and go, with Spider-Man always defeating them and saving the day. However, in Vulture, they have a villain with a rare layering of depth to him for Peter Parker to go up against. And one who may be back.
The twist that Toomes is the father of Peter’s crush Liz was a stroke of genius and gave him a rare link to the hero. Marvel also, intriguingly, chose to keep him alive. Vulture’s amazing tech made him a beastly foe but we saw him vulnerable and exposed at the end as he encountered a potential villain, Scorpion, in prison. There seems enough justification to bring him back and that, certainly, would be no bad thing.
