MCU: 5 Best & 5 Worst Villains So Far
3. Zemo
Civil War is arguably one of Marvel’s best outings with the huge roster of superheroes on screen making it a movie to remember. There’s Captain America, Iron Man, the Winter Soldier, Falcon, Vision, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Black Panther, Spider-Man and many more characters who, for the first time, all turn on each other in a huge development for the series.
And, hiding in the shadows through all of it, is Zemo. This is not a villain with a formidable array of aliens at his disposal, nor is he an individual with a taste for the sick or sensational. Instead, he is merely a man out for revenge and, realising that ‘better men’ have failed in their quest to bring down the Avengers, he instead succeeds in manipulating them so they turn against each other.
It’s so simple but so brilliant. Zemo is one of the most influential Marvel villains with the consequences of his actions still being felt two years later. He succeeded in driving a wedge between Cap and Iron Man, meaning those wounds must be healed before they take on Thanos in Infinity War. Daniel Bruhl, who plays him, has already expressed an interest in a return.
