Doctor Strange may have been a victim of the Snap, but it was all part of the plan - the only way to start the endgame that is the one victory of 14,000,605 outcomes.

But while Strange went into the future to see the victories and defeats, what if he also went into the past too?

The theory posits that Strange travelled back in time to the 1990s to warn at the very least Nick Fury - if not him AND Carol Danvers - of a coming threat; of a time when half the universe would be wiped out, and at that very moment he'd need to contact Captain Marvel and bring her back to Earth.

Fury is well prepared for the dire, shocking situation he finds himself in, and just so happens to be carrying around the pager, as if he's long been waiting for this moment to come. It might also explain why he formed the Avengers Initiative, to further protect the universe while being unable to contact Marvel. And she, too, may have been in on it, having to remain in exile until just the right moment, so that the endgame can take place as Strange saw it.
