MCU Eternals Movie: Salma Hayek In Talks For Role

Marvel's Eternals might be the most obscure property Disney have adapted since 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, but Chloe Zhao's film has had no trouble at all in attracting big-name talent. Both Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie are heavily rumoured to have starring roles in the project, and the latest name to be attached is none other than Salma Hayek.

According to The Wrap, Hayek is being "eyed" to star in the film alongside Madden and The Big Sick's Kumail Nanjiani. The report doesn't mention what her role could be, but with Jolie rumoured to portray Sersi it's probably safe to assume Marvel have a different role in mind for Hayek.

The Eternals might not be one of Marvel's most popular comics, but the lore is immense and filled to the brim with all sorts of fascinating characters for Hayek to take on. Given it stemmed from the mind of Jack Kirby that probably goes without saying, and it's also worth reiterating that Marvel had no trouble at all in bringing the likes of the Guardians of the Galaxy to the big screen, a property even the publisher's more regular readers weren't particularly familiar with.

Either way, the cast for the upcoming Eternals movie should provide encouragement. Hayek is a fantastic actress and Jolie's talents go without saying. Factor in a new and exciting world, Zhao's involvement and the other talent present too, and it's easy to see why some are hailing this as Marvel's most exciting Phase Four project.
