Now, I know what many of you are probably thinking: "Age of Ultron over Infinity War? Really?" The second Avengers film has generally been considered the weakest of the three films to date, and that's a fair argument, but in terms of what it means for the character of Captain America, it did a lot more for him through its runtime than his smaller role in Infinity War.

Aside from going toe-to-toe with and holding his own against Ultron himself in South Korea and proving how far the team had come in seeing him as their leader from the first film through the mission that opens the movie, Age of Ultron also gave us a glimpse into Cap's mind thanks to Wanda's meddling, the supersoldier's greatest fear - of a world in which the war has ended and he has to return to normal life - exposed to reveal just how alone he feels in this world that still isn't necessarily his own.

Even further, Cap's journey in this film saw the seeds being planted for Civil War, as he butted heads with Tony Stark about the latter's apparent recklessness surrounding Ultron's creation, while he's also the first one to overlook Wanda and Pietro's alignment with Ultron and bring them into the fold so that they have the chance to make things right. And in the end, though Age of Ultron overall may not hit the highs that Infinity War hits, its larger focus on Cap gives it the edge on this list by default.
