There's no Guardians without Chris Pratt. At least, not yet there isn't. While Phase 4 or beyond might eventually try to introduce a new version of the team, and there have even been calls for Chris Hemsworth's Thor to join-up with them for a full movie, it'd be impossible for Vol 3 to go ahead without Pratt's Peter Quill, who is the leader and the heart of these stories.

We've seen him learn about both of his parents now, and lose his other father figure along the way too, so now there's more to explore with regards to Peter being the 'father' to this team. And it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if his story ended with him becoming a father himself.
