Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a very mixed start to its life, with a weak start before finding its footing, only to then have a couple more inconsistent seasons. Quite remarkably, though, the show has only gotten better the longer it's gone on, with Season 4 and then especially 5 taking it to whole new heights, even as ratings have fallen.

It previously looked like it might be cancelled, but the show has scored a double-renewal for Seasons 6 (which will air this year) and 7. Since it took so long to figure out, there's still a freshness to the series now, imbued with new life and a new direction, which makes it one of Marvel's strongest TV shows.
