Ant-Man doesn't really need a trilogy, but actor Michael Douglas recently made one seem quite likely, telling press on the TCA Tour that "there's been talk" of a sequel, although there's "nothing formal" right now.

Since most other heroes have tended to get trilogies, it would make sense for Ant-Man. The first film was a funny, thoroughly enjoyable heist flick, led by Paul Rudd's ridiculous charm. While Rudd was still great in the second, the follow-up did suffer from really feeling like filler, and was largely forgettable, which means a third isn't the most enticing of prospects.

The saving grace - aside from Rudd and Evangeline Lily - is the Quantum Realm. It's going to be very important going forward, in Endgame and beyond, and Ant-Man is at the heart of that, which means there might be some very interesting new directions it in go in with it.
