MCU: Every Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie Ranked Worst To Best
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Considering the money that Marvel spent on bringing Spider-Man back to the MCU despite Sony owning the character's movie rights, they really needed a big success for their take on the web-slinger. Luckily for them, that's exactly what Jon Watts delivered for them.
That success came down to a few things: first, the exceptional casting of Tom Holland - both the best Peter Parker and the best Spider-Man - then the John Hughes-inspired high-school story and also Michael Keaton's excellent Vulture. He immediately ranked as one of the top three villains in the entire MCU when he debuted.
Homecoming is a charming exercise in nostalgia and while it's not quite as good as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, it's up there with the very best Spider-Man movies. And it achieved that without leaning all that heavily on Iron Man's presence - despite how much of a factor he was in the pre-release marketing campaign.
