MCU: Every Thor Appearance Ranked Worst To Best

This year's massive Avengers film was the single biggest MCU film to date, with dozens of characters turning up who've made a mark over the first decade of the franchise. With so much going on, and with Age of Ultron having set a precedent that Thor could end up as background dressing in a movie like this, it could've been all too easy for the newly-energized God of Thunder to have his role short-changed.

Instead, with Ragnarok giving us the Thor we'd all been waiting to see unleashed, Infinity War pushed Thor straight to the forefront, where he became one of the loaded film's primary characters. Right out of the gate, Thor is the one who loses far too much to Thanos - half the Asgardians, Heimdall, Loki, and nearly his own life - and after he is found by the Guardians, he set out on a journey with Rocket and Groot to forge Stormbreaker, ultimately arriving to save the day in Wakanda in one of the film's showstopping moments.

We finally got to see Thor at his most emotionally exposed, ruminating to Rocket about just how much he'd lost - his family, his friends, his home, his hammer, and even his eye - and his most powerful, as Stormbreaker destroys Thanos' army in Wakanda. And though his desire to gloat was the final straw that allowed Thanos to win - something that will undoubtedly take a toll on him in Avengers 4 - Thor came out of Infinity War proving to the world over that his journey doesn't deserve to end next year when the character has only just come into his own.
