7. Daniel Craig

Although his position in this list may be a slight nod to a former role, Daniel Craig was indeed the studio’s first choice to play Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While It was later revealed that Craig had to leave the role due to rising concerns surrounding COVID-19, that’s not to say he couldn’t be approached again to bring the character to life on a larger scale than his predecessor.

Undeniably leaving with a heavy heart, the Knives Out inquisitor is finally free from his 007 duties, meaning that one of Hollywood’s better and more reliable actors is back on the market. Away from James Bond, Craig has amassed a fine repertoire of performances to date that showcase the evident qualities he could bring to the table harnessing a character as complex as Reed Richards.

The Brit’s iteration of Ian Fleming’s infamous spy portrayed a man plagued with immense insecurity, vulnerability, and responsibility to protect those close to him. Richards’ genius intellect often results in him detaching and distancing himself from those he loves, and although the 54-year-old’s Bond’s intelligence came from his fists as opposed to his mind, there are clear similarities between the two that would allow the Englishman smooth passage into leading the Fantastic Four within the MCU.
