MCU Fantastic Four: 10 Lessons Disney Need To Learn From Fant4stic
9. Skip The Teen Drama
In the comic books, Fantastic Four is about the family dynamic and the trust that builds between each on of its members.
Shoehorning in a plot of how they got from point A, in their early childhood, to point B, in their late teens just to show their intellect and have cheap confrontations between brash not-fully-formed characters, weakened the action set pieces instead of enhancing them.
Teen drama is a large market in film, but it is over done and is even included with Spider-man's flicks in the MCU. It would be wise to find the characters at an older age where they aren't still finding themselves. Set the goals and flaws of the four members, and see how they act them out in the actions sequences without it suddenly feeling out of nowhere from the audience perspective.
We've seen that origin stories aren't necessary for the modern audience with movies like Spider-man: Homecoming skipping the better part of how the character became to be.
We still need to know who they are though, so if they must, Disney can do something like the scene before Peter Quill's abduction at the start of Guardians of the Galaxy.
