MCU Film Theory: Nick Fury Has Been An Alien ALL ALONG

All of that also means that the Fury who turns up in Avengers: Age Of Ultron isn't Fury either, which would explain the ridiculous convenience of him being able to suddenly appear at Clint Barton's farm just when the Avengers needed him. The Fury at the end who leads the helicarrier cavalry to the Avengers' assistance in Sokovia also isn't the real one, in that case.

Whether it's the real Fury who is dusted at the end of Infinity War and calls on Captain Marvel to return to Earth is a more complex issue and it probably IS the real Fury. Given that he and Maria Hill discuss tracking bogeys over New York and Wakanda, it's very possibly that he came back to Earth because Thanos' invasion represented everything he was preparing for with the SWORD station. Unfortunately, as Far From Home subsequently proved, the defences were not ready yet.

And as far the Fury who appears very briefly in Endgame at Tony Stark's funeral? Of course it's not him. While Fury and Stark had an existing relationship, Far From Home's timeline establishes that Fury was already hard at work on the station when Tony was being laid to rest. That would have been his priority and that would go some way to explaining why he hangs around weirdly removed on the porch while everyone stands around mourning. A Skrull failing to realise the right emotional response to the memorial is a lot easier to take than Fury simply being cold.

So there you have it: Fury hasn't been Fury in the MCU for almost as long as he was Fury. He might not always have been Talos disguised, but there's lots of evidence to suggest that he was replaced by a Skrull impostor well before the deception was revealed in Far From Home.
