MCU: Iron Man's 10 Greatest Moments
8. Almost (Then Officially) Making Spider-Man An Avenger (Spider-Man: Homecoming & Avengers: Infinity War)
Tony Stark and Peter Parker have got one of the best relationships in the MCU. Their dynamic is perfect, providing both characters with character growth, a deep connection to the MCU as a whole and bringing the best out of each other.
Tony is like the dad that didn’t want the pet but now loves it the most, and Peter is like the Labrador. The duo have an amazing chemistry which began in Captain America: Civil War and continued into Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, where these two moments come.
At the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony Stark invites Peter to the Avengers complex with the intention of throwing him a ‘welcome to the Avengers’ party. However Peter, who’s grown up considerably across his solo movie, rejects the offer, thinking this is a test from Tony.
While it was a genuine offer, Tony lets Peter believe it was indeed a test, impressed that for all his goofiness, the kid is wise beyond his years.
Peter does however get christened as an Avenger in Infinity War, when Tony, despite his irritation that Spidey is still on the ship, tells him ‘congrats, you’re an Avenger now’.
