MCU Phase 4: 10 Marvel Teams That Could Appear
2. X-Men
The top two are where the really big guns come in. The X-Men franchise has been hugely successful commercially for Fox (if not always critically), and are some of Marvel’s most iconic characters around.
Now that Disney’s dealings means they’re finally eligible for the MCU, some fans are desperate for them to be introduced. However, Marvel might be better off hanging fire for now.
The MCU has as many casual fans as it does hardcore, and bringing the MCU version of the X-Men into the fold so soon after the Fox run is over (with Dark Phoenix this summer) is a risky move. To avoid any crossover issues, the entire roster will likely be recast.
This does mean losing young talent like Evan Peters and Sophie Turner as well as mega stars Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, but it’s probably worth it to get an entire reboot going.
When they are introduced, there are two main theories on how it might happen. Thanos destroying the Infinity Stones way well have released enough cosmic energy to mutate genes, or Scarlet Witch (who herself had her powers activated by the Mind Stone) may be responsible for their creation with a House Of M style energy blast.
