MCU Phase 4: 9 Reasons To Be Excited About Black Widow

4. We Will Learn About The Red Room Programme

In Black Widow, we will get to explore what exactly Natasha endured as part of her training in the Red Room.

Natasha is still haunted by the memories of the harsh programme, which takes young women and turns them into the world’s deadliest and most elite assassins. They are put through strenuous daily training in combat and espionage.

She even views herself as a monster because of it. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, she delivers a powerful speech to Bruce Banner aka The Hulk: “You know what my final test was in the Red Room? They sterilised me, said it was one less thing to worry about. You think you’re the only monsters on the team?”

Whilst Bruce can’t have children either, it’s clear that Natasha’s biggest problem isn’t the cold and deadly killing she’s forced to do, but her loss of motherhood.

In the same film, Natasha, Thor and Captain America suffer from vivid hallucinations at the hands of Wanda. During Natasha’s, we see flashes of her past, including her Red Room trainer Madame B. (Julie Deply). It’s likely that the film will expand more on these scenes as it’s the core event that shaped Natasha into Black Widow.
